CAN YOU CHANGE THE WORLD FOMR THE CLASSROOM?

This is an interesting and controversial question which we, as teachers, should reflect on.
On the one hand, we can analyse this question from the point of view of an academic education. I think that a teacher can change students' lives helping them  to extract their inside knowledge and do their best. She can teach in a memorable way that provides students with useful  learning techniques, and subsequently, this will help them to have a better academic level in the future.
So, to sum up, a good teachers' job can change the academic level of the world.

On the other hand, we can analyse the question from the point of view of  values and believes. Personally, I think that teachers cannot change the whole world in isolation, but we can contribute to getting a better place to live in. Everbody knows that any teachers' role has changed dramatically in the last years. Society has changed, and our job has, inevitably, changed with it .Nowadays, a teacher's job is not only related to knowledge, marks and tasks, but also  to the socio-affective situation of students, such as poverty and violence.
We have to deal with situations in which we may feel forced to stop  the lesson and stop teaching the syllabus content for a while, and have a conversation about feelings, respect, what it is right and what is not so right, etc. and in fact, in these days it is necessary to do it.
So, in a way, we can say that, as teachers , we can contribute to changing the world but we cannot do it alone; there is an important element to achieve this goal: we need to have the support of the families and work as if we were a team. Otherwise, students may receive contradictory messages and our job would be useless.

To conclude,  it is possible to say that, although only one teacher cannot change the whole world, we should be responsible and carry out conscious work when teaching, since our contribution may lead to the improvement of the world in many aspects. It's our choice to take part in this process, but mainly, it is our responsibility.
So, let's shake the world and make a better place of it!
